Chart Component for JSE Applications

JClass® Chart was the very first available charting API for Java. JClass Chart remains the data display tool of choice for Java professionals. It comes with sample code for all popular business and scientific charts, as well as a rich text format for customizing labels or mixing images and URLs with text. It's available on its own or as part of JClass DesktopViews.

  • Targeted Data Model — Use a targeted data source mechanism, which has been added to allow easier loading of data into the chart from databases. The targeted data model is a data-independent, chart-type specific data model. This means that your data can be stored in any format. As you match the data in your data source to chart elements, you do so with properties that are meaningful for the type of chart you have selected. The implementation of the data model that ships with this release is designed for JDBC result sets.
  • Markers — Add marker lines to your chart to show things like an average value or control limits.
  • Thresholds — Add thresholds to your chart. Thresholds are regions in the chart's plot area that can be given a color to highlight data points that fall within or outside these regions.
  • XML Support — Create, update, and save charts in XML.
  • XML Internationalization — Localize your XML-based charts using variables and resource bundles.

Flexible Data Sources

JClass Chart supports a vast array of data sources including files, sockets, and real-time feeds. It even shares data with JClass LiveTable. With its MVC (Model-View-Controller) architecture, JClass Chart makes it easy to bring data in from any source.

Automatic Data Binding

You can automatically bind JClass Chart to any database using JClass DataSource (the hierarchical data object that works with any JDBC database) or by using Borland® JBuilder™ Professional or Enterprise.

Fully Interactive

JClass Chart is ideal for decision support applications because it has built-in support for common chart interactions like panning, zooming, rotating, and picking. It's easy to enable or disable these actions for your users. You also have the flexibility to bind to any mouse button and modifier key combination.

Applets or Applications

JClass Chart works equally well in either applets or applications. A pre-built applet class is included in the JClass Chart package, allowing HTML authors to include charts in their web pages without having to do any Java coding. All of the chart applet's properties are fully customizable using the HTML <APPLET> parameters.

Easily Customizable

JClass Chart gives you great looking defaults for your charts. Plus, it's easy to customize the appearance of your chart axes, headers, footers, legends, and data labels. Advanced features like reversed, logarithmic, and multiple Y-axes are also supported. Plus, you get multiple formatting options, including scientific notation, percents, and currencies.
