What is the link between PowerShell and ActiveRoles Direct?

Microsoft PowerShell was originally developed as the underlying command shell for Microsoft Exchange 2007 but provides no support for Active Directory. ActiveRoles Direct on the other hand provided excellent support for Active Directory but lacked the command line interface that many administrators preferred. ActiveRoles Direct now includes the Management Shell for Active Directory that include a set of PowerShell commands that can be used to manage Active Directory.
